Selflessness: Generosity and Sacrifice
Like Jesus, we are called to a life of selflessness and generosity. When we look at God’s character through the person of Jesus Christ, we see His heart and a reflection of how we are to live as well. God is a Father who demonstrates perfect love.
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love…My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command…17 This is my command: Love each other.” (John 15:9-17)
Selflessness Activation
Generosity
Level 1: Treat someone who doesn't attend church to a meal this week and show them care, being open to encouraging them as the Lord leads.
Level 2: Start consistently tithing if you haven’t, or look for other opportunities to sow into kingdom work.
Level 3: Ask God to reveal who to financially bless this week and how to do it. Consider giving the blessing without revealing that it came from you.
Sacrifice
Level 1: Donate blood, food supplies, or clothing to local organizations.
Level 2: Join one of our Serve Teams.
Level 3: Ask God to reveal other ways for you to be sacrificial in your life.
